Eric Brevik
Dr. Brevik has extensive experience in the agricultural, environmental, and geosciences. He began his career as an environmental consultant before starting his first faculty position at Valdosta State University in Georgia. After that he moved to Dickinson State University in North Dakota, before to Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2021. He has worked as a faculty member, department chair, and college dean during his career. He has conducted extensive international research, including projects in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and South America. His background has given him experience in diverse pedological and geological environments. This work has resulted in over 200 peer-reviewed journal articles, 55 book chapters, and 280 presentations. Dr. Brevik is an active member of the American Society of Agronomy, European Geosciences Union, Illinois Soil Classifiers Association, International Union of Soil Sciences, and Soil Science Society of America, holding or having held officer positions in all of these organizations. He has also served on multiple journal editorial boards, including some of the leading journals in soil science.

Research Interest:
Dr. Brevik's research interests include human impacts on the soil resource, soil genesis, links between geology and soil science, soils and culture, soil science education, soil science history, and links between soils and human health.
