Criminology and Criminal Justice

Dr. Pleggenkuhle joined the SIUC faculty in the Fall of 2012 after completing her Ph.D. in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Missouri-St Louis. She currently serves as the Program Director for Criminology and Criminal Justice.

Dr. Pleggenkuhle’s research primarily focuses on corrections, particularly the experiences of formerly incarcerated persons, the collateral consequences of a felony conviction, and how community impacts post-conviction experiences. Dr. Pleggenkuhle’s recent projects have examined employment outcomes for persons under community supervision, impacts of intensive supervision probation programs, and has ongoing work evaluating the implementation, process, and outcome of the R3 (Restore. Reinvest. Renew) Illinois programs in Southern Illinois.
