Dr. Wafaa Kanakri is an Assistant Professor in the School of Computing at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She received her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University. Her research focuses on the intersection of cybersecurity, machine learning, and applied cryptography, with particular emphasis on trustworthy and secure machine learning systems.Her research interests include machine learning security, trustworthy AI, federated learning security, applied cryptography, privacy-preserving machine learning, and model integrity and authentication. Her teaching interests include cybersecurity, cryptography, machine learning for cybersecurity, web security, and computer security.
