Harvey Henson is an accomplished researcher and educator at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIU). He contributes to the fields of STEM education, earthquake seismology, and applied geophysics. Henson joined SIU in 1985 as a research assistant in Geology and served as research specialist until 2007. He was Assistant Dean of Recruitment, Retention and Outreach in the College of Science from 2008 to 2016. Henson has served as Director of the STEM Education Research Center (SERC) since 2016, and he holds a joint faculty appointment in Science Education in the School of Education and in Geology in School of Earth Systems and Sustainability.
